Oval Alien Full of Dust” is a literary fiction piece following a young Honduran woman, Guadalupe, as she comes to terms with the mysterious disappearance of her mother during the Contra Wars of the 1980s. Set in a remote village, Congua Cota, Honduras, in 1989, the story begins when a white man suddenly appears in the village. Guadalupe’s hospitable father agrees to give the man, Phillip Oval, a space in their home during his stay in the village. But when Guadalupe is tasked with helping Phillip become more comfortable by cooking his meals and laundering his clothes, what unravels is a coming-of-age tale full of mystery, faith and magical realism.
